My Project 2

We will soon be welcoming a baby boy in to our family and as we were putting together his nursery I was put in charge of decorations. I wanted some thing unique and interesting. So after some thinking and some inspiration I keyed in on two things. Light painting and wind-up toys.

The father of a friend of mine had a nice collection of these toys so I went over to his house Thursday night with some background material and a small Streamlight Stylus flashlight. I used some black gaffer’s tape and some cine foil to narrow the light beam.

After about 2 hours of making pictures I had five different images I really liked. Now I’m just waiting for the 16×20 prints to arrive so we can frame them and put them up on the walls and our baby’s room will be complete.

But wait! I’m not done. I’d really love to do more of these and I’m looking for more sources of these vintage wind-up toys. So please if you know of anyone in Mid-Missouri that has these types of toys please contact me at gerik@gerik.com!

Light Painting 6

Practiced some light painting last night on an old Kodak Brownie movie camera. I’m getting ready for an upcoming personal photo project. My time will be limited with the subjects I want to capture so I need to be sure I have my techniques down.

MU Wins Big XI Comments Off

I caught the end of MU’s game against Baylor in the Big XI conference title while sitting in a hotel lobby. I was waiting for a fashion show to start. Strange but true. Over the three-plus years of living in Columbia it’s been interesting to watch a time go to one of it’s lowest points (there have been many) to a high point.
