I had an assignment the other day to take a tour of the cramped facilities of the State Historical Society on the campus of the University of Missouri. I always enjoy behind the scenes looks like this and I thought I would try doing a couple of panoramas. This is my favorite which shows the storage area for the art museum. The room also doubles as a workshop.

Art League

I worked another QTVR panorama today. I had a different assignment at the Columbia Art League. So I did a panoramic of their gallery. This one was difficult on many levels. The first was the mixed lighting conditions. The second was some issues I was having on creating the right width and height so the software would stitch the images together correctly. I wonder if all of this is always hit and miss.

Full Screen QTVR of the Kitchen

Here’s a quick test for some software that generates code for a full screen QTVR. Pretty easy to use. If I want to use it I need to figure out how much 25 € is in US dollars.

Update:
Note to self - full screen panos really show off my mistakes. Yikes.

Kitchen Panorama

I did another practice QTVR panorama today. It was too cold out side so I shot this one in our kitchen. It’s a little mess, so don’t tell Tanya. This one was a challenge because of the close quarters. So I learned some things. I shot it twice and probably made about 6 panos before I got one I thought was okay.

The QTVR is embedded after the jump so click “Read more” to see.

One thing I can’t figure out is how to get rid of the black that is appearing at the top and bottom. If you zoom out (hold down the “ctrl”) you will see it.

I fixed it. It was some sizing issue I was having with the stitching software I use.

Backyard Panorama

I’ve been meaning to learn more about doing QTVR panoramas. I have some of the equipment but not everything I wished I had. Isn’t that always the case? I’ve been reluctant to do any panos because of the lack of equipment, but I realised that’s just an excuse. I need to start somewhere, right?

So I went in to our back yard, which is a complete mess due to foundation and other repairs that are way over due - it’s a condo management issue which is a whole different story - and made a QTVR panorama.
