Traffic is at at stand still on Interstate 70 in Columbia, Mo., as a heavy winter storm passes through the area Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.

Stopped in Oklahoma City, as usual, during the drive home from the Southwestern Photojournalism Conference. It’s just a short detour, one I enjoy. It’s a great place to pause and reflect on the weekend and what has challenged me. I also shoot some photos, stretch the legs and walk around the bombing Memorial.
“I find the great thing in this world is not so much
where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.”
~Oliver Wendell Holmes
My last assignment for the Tribune was to rush out and make a snow feature for today’s weather story. Because it was Christmas Eve, and the bad weather, our deadline was moved up 2 hours. So I had to scramble a little to get a picture before deadline. I knew my best chance to find people enjoying the snow was the city’s most popular sledding hill. Saw a dad making a jump. Waited for the girl to come down. Click. Done.
