I seem to be most successful in the studio when taking pictures of old men. This is Dan Schuffman who flew B24 Bombers during World War II for the Army Air Corps. One day he was in need of a hat. He pulled out his old military cover and started wearing it. He wears it ever day. Mostly because the ladies like it, he said.
I used four lights on this portrait. Two Nikon SB’s with snoots – one for his face and one for the hat. I then used one dynalite with a grid spot on the background and another dynalite in a medium softbox with a grid for the rim-light place to the right and behind.
